HaloTag

Continuous detection, real-time location tracking, and instant emergency response—integrated into the cap lamp every worker already wears

HaloTag Underground Personnel Safety Device

The Future of Underground Safety.

HaloTag transforms the essential cap lamp into a comprehensive safety hub by embedding real-time tracking and collision awareness into the one tool workers never forget. By solving the 'human factor' of adoption, HaloTag ensures every miner is protected by a silent, five-technology safety net—without requiring a single change in worker behavior.

In the event of an emergency or when an individual cannot be accounted for, the system enables rapid location identification through GNSS positioning, dramatically reducing search and rescue response times and potentially saving lives.

We don't just provide cap lamps—we deliver confidence that every worker is protected, every shift.

Complete Operational Support

Your personal safety system must work flawlessly every shift—no exceptions. Our Complete Operational Support includes proactive fleet health monitoring via Wi-Fi Transfer Stations, scheduled preventive maintenance to identify failing batteries before they impact safety, priority technical response for device issues, regular firmware updates that add new safety features, comprehensive training programs for new hires and refresher sessions, and detailed compliance reporting for regulatory audits. We ensure your HaloTag fleet maintains peak performance, protecting your workforce and meeting safety requirements without burdening your maintenance team.

Emergency Response That Actually Works

Most safety devices rely on a single technology—GPS fails underground, while RF lacks surface accuracy. HaloTag solves this by combining five technologies (GPS, RF Proximity, Radio Frequency, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth), automatically adapting to the environment. In an emergency, workers may be injured or unable to communicate. With one press, HaloTag sends precise location data directly to the control room—no explanation needed. Nearby HaloGuard vehicles are alerted, and the tag activates high-visibility signals, ensuring fast, accurate response even if the worker can’t assist.

Frequently Asked Questions

While HaloTag provides full cap lamp functionality with powerful LED illumination and long battery life, it integrates a complete personal safety system that regular cap lamps don’t have. Every HaloTag includes GPS and RF tracking so workers are always locatable, collision prevention technology that alerts workers and nearby vehicles before accidents occur, emergency panic buttons for instant help, and comprehensive data logging for accountability. Workers get the illumination they need plus continuous safety protection—without carrying additional equipment or changing their behavior.

That’s the key advantage of HaloTag—workers are already required to wear cap lamps underground, so there’s zero adoption barrier. Unlike separate safety devices that workers might “forget,” HaloTag is the required illumination source they must wear to see and work safely. The safety features operate automatically in the background, providing protection without requiring workers to remember to turn anything on, carry extra equipment, or change their routine. If they’re working underground, they’re wearing their protection.

HaloTag is designed for full-shift operation with safety margin. Standard configuration provides 12+ hours of continuous operation for typical shifts, with extended battery options available for longer shifts or remote operations. The system monitors battery level in real-time and provides early warnings to both the worker and control room when charge drops below safe thresholds. Pre-shift testing in the lamp room verifies sufficient charge before deployment, and workers can see remaining battery percentage at any time on the device display.

Emergency button activation triggers immediate response: the control room receives instant notification with the worker’s identity, current location, and timestamp. The worker’s Halo Tag activates high-visibility flashing lights and distinctive audio alerts to help responders locate them. The emergency signal continues until acknowledged by control room personnel. All nearby HaloGuard-equipped vehicles are also alerted to the emergency, and the system logs the complete event for incident investigation. Control room operators can initiate two-way communication (if equipped with that option) or dispatch emergency response teams with exact location coordinates.

HaloTag operates seamlessly in both environments with no manual switching required. On the surface, the system uses GPS for precise location tracking. Underground where GPS signals don’t penetrate, it automatically switches to RF proximity detection using the beacon network. Workers moving between surface and underground during their shift experience continuous protection—the system adapts automatically. This hybrid capability is especially valuable for operations with portals, near-surface workings, or mixed surface/underground shifts.

When a HaloTag comes within detection range of a HaloGuard-equipped vehicle, the two systems communicate automatically. The HaloTag alerts the worker with visual (flashing LEDs) and audible warnings that a vehicle is approaching. Simultaneously, the vehicle’s HaloGuard system alerts the operator that a pedestrian is nearby and shows the worker’s location. If the worker is in the vehicle’s path and closing distance, HaloGuard can automatically reduce vehicle speed or trigger braking to prevent collision. Neither the worker nor operator needs to do anything—the systems protect both parties automatically.

Our experienced installation teams handle the entire deployment with minimal disruption to HaloTag logs location data (GPS coordinates or beacon proximity), device status (battery level, system health), alert events (collision warnings received, emergency button activations), and timestamps for all activities. This data is used for safety purposes: locating workers in emergencies, investigating incidents, identifying high-risk areas, and ensuring accountability. Worker privacy is protected—location data is only accessible to authorized safety personnel, encrypted during transmission, and retained according to your data policies. Workers cannot be “secretly tracked”—the system’s purpose is transparent safety, not surveillance.your operations. Installation timelines typically range from 2-6 weeks depending on site size. We provide complete end-to-end support including site survey, custom design, beacon installation, tag distribution, system commissioning, and comprehensive training.

HaloTag is designed for seamless lamp room integration. The charging cradles handle both battery charging and automated data transfer to your Wi-Fi Transfer Station. When workers return their HaloTags to the lamp room, the system automatically downloads the shift data, performs diagnostics, and charges the battery for the next shift. Lamp room attendants can see at a glance which devices are fully charged and ready for issue, which need maintenance, and which workers are currently underground. The system integrates with your existing check-in/check-out procedures without requiring new workflows.

HaloTag’s self-diagnostic system continuously monitors all functions and alerts the worker and control room immediately if any malfunction is detected. If a device fails, the worker maintains their cap lamp illumination (the LED lamp function is independent and highly reliable), but loses safety features. Control room is alerted to the malfunction and can direct the worker to return for a replacement device or take appropriate precautions. Pre-shift testing in the lamp room catches most issues before deployment, dramatically reducing the chance of in-shift failures. The ruggedized design withstands typical underground impacts, but if damage occurs, the system logs the event for investigation.

Training is minimal because most safety functions operate automatically. Worker training typically takes 15-30 minutes and covers: how to wear and activate the cap lamp (same as any cap lamp), what the different alerts mean (approaching vehicle, low battery, emergency confirmation), how to use the emergency button, and how to check battery status. There’s no complex procedures to remember—workers literally just wear it and the safety systems work automatically. Refresher training during safety meetings ensures everyone stays familiar with the emergency functions. Most workers adapt within one shift because the device operates like the cap lamps they’re already experienced with.

Yes. The safety and tracking electronics (GPS, RF, Wi-Fi) operate on a dedicated power circuit independent of the main LED light.

HaloTag utilizes Hybrid Positioning. When GPS is unavailable, it switches to Wi-Fi/RF beacon tracking to maintain a reliable Last Known Location (LKL) at all times.
