This partnership produced an immersive simulation designed to showcase Mine Safe Global’s advanced Collision Avoidance System (CAS) at MINExpo in Las Vegas – a significant industry event.
Leveraging Technology for Safety
Mine Safe Global, known for its capabilities in mining safety technology, has developed the CAS to protect personnel and equipment in high-risk settings. Proudly developed in South Africa, this system reflects their commitment to stringent industry safety standards.
VR Simulation: A New Approach
The VR simulation crafted by Realm Digital allows users to virtually operate a heavy-duty vehicle in an open-pit mine setting, demonstrating a few of the CAS’s critical features. Users experience proximity detection, dynamic follow distance, and speed limitations, gaining insights into the system’s real-time functionality. The simulation also provides real-time warnings for potential collisions, offering a practical view of how the system enhances safety.
Engaging the Audience
To create an engaging experience, a custom driving rig with interactive controls and real-time force feedback was developed in collaboration with EG Evolved Group (Pty) Ltd. This setup allows users to physically engage with the simulation, providing a tangible understanding of the system’s capabilities. An external monitor displayed the simulation to attract additional attention and encourage participation from attendees.
